About this Opportunity:
 
The Director of Information Security Consulting is a position within the Information Security Office (ISO) reporting to Stanford’s Chief Information Security Officer. The Director is responsible for leading a team of five who perform security assessments, provide awareness training, conduct penetration testing, lead incident response, and maintain the University’s information security standards and policies. The primary focus of this role will be managing projects using Agile and Kanban methodologies, strategic planning, campus outreach, and coaching staff. We’re looking for someone with a strong background in IT and cybersecurity best practices who employs a consultative management style.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage cybersecurity experts responsible for protecting Stanford’s information assets, providing technical direction where needed.
  • Manage multiple concurrent security program initiatives using Agile and Kanban methodologies.
  • Function as a source of information system security best practices for the University community.
  • Create and execute business and technical plans, and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Develop metrics and evaluate program effectiveness; review trends and monitor proactively. Establish and manage financials for portions of the University’s cybersecurity program.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent.  Evaluate staff performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Other responsibilities may also be assigned.

 
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of technical manager work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Master’s degree in computer science or a similar field strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant business and technical knowledge, including information security standards and regulations.
  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and make decisions that meet university objectives, in a collaborative culture.
  • Exceptional customer relationship skills, consensus building skills, and ability to establish effective working relationships in a diverse environment.
