The board of directors for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Informaiton Systems Security Association (ISSA)  is comprised of individuals who have not only expressed interest in contributing to the greater good of the Information Security community and the community-at-large, but have also volunteered their time to take action towards achieving this goal. With representation from some of the largest Silicon Valley companies to niche boutiques, we work hard to facilitate fulfillment of our members' objectives.

Edward Frye

Edward Frye presides over all chapter and board meetings as well as providing general leadership for the chapter. Edward is the CISO for Aryaka Networks, Inc.   Edward has been an information security professional since 2000 providing a wide breadth of expertise in Network and Information Security across many industries including Supply Chain, Telecommunications, Healthcare and Financial Services. 


Mike Skurko
Vice President:

Responsible for bringing in industry speakers and sponsors for the chapter. Working in conjunction with the entire board to ensure the content is relevant to their Information Security career and knowledge.Mike is an information security professional with over 15 years of experience in early phase startups. He is the founder and CEO of Pacific Rim Expert (PRE) based in Silicon Valley, where he connects security solutions and practitioners to the APAC market. Mike is an active member of both the Silicon Valley and San Francisco chapters of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), and a planning committee member with the Cornerstones of Trust where he uses his extensive network to bring dynamic speakers, sponsors, and attendees to the conference.


Dick Hacking

Dick Hacking has been performing security control failure assessments for most of his career. He is currently a QSA performing assessments against PCI DSS requirements for credit card security in small to mid-size businesses. He also regularly performs IT security and governance gap reviews and advises clients on how to expand their security posture. He is also treasurer for the annual Cornerstones of Trust conference.


Andrew Daniels
Education Director:

Drew is responsible for the education programs for the SV chapter.  He is responsible for putting together and alerting the chapter of any training opportunities that may be of interest to the chapter.  During most days Drew is the Vice President of Security for Qubole, Inc. a Data Analytics company and is responsible for security, compliance and privacy and reports to the CEO.  In addition Drew also serves as security adviser for VC backed startups.

Drew has been head of security for several companies over the past 10 years including Shutterfly, ClearSlide and Qubole.  He has over 25 years of total experience.I'm an avid emailer feel free to email


Mary Arakeri
Events Director:

As events director, Mary is responsible for coordinating events for the Silicon Valley ISSA Chapter and working with the San Francisco ISSA, Infraguard, and ISACA on joint events. An information security professional since 2006, her expertise is in program  management, compliance efforts and privacy.


Scott Bursese
Membership Director:

Scott is responsible for growing chapter membership, interfacing with International, and keeping track of meeting attendance. If you have an interest in helping grow membership please reach out. Scott is an Information Security leader with 14 years experience in security serving the DoD, gov agencies, Cisco & security startups.  He is well versed in cloud security, vehicle security, security operations and incident response.


Michelle Koblas
Communications Director:

Michelle is the Communications Director for the chapter, responsible for keeping the membership informed of events and activities. Michelle is a Managing Partner for Crucyble, an information security firm specializing in helping companies secure their future and information through consulting engagements and cloud security monitoring tools. With over 25 years experience across Information Security and Information Technology domains, Michelle focuses on establishing strategic, proactive policies, processes, education and architectures to protect information and assets.


Kelly Robertson
Recording Director:

Kelly is currently CEO of SEC Consult America, an information security consultancy based in the Silicon Valley. SEC America focuses on secure application development, external and internal security audits and regulatory compliance for enterprise firms. Mr. Robertson has been an advocate for increased business health resulting from compliance initiatives as opposed to the perception that enforced hygiene is not in alignment with business goals.


Ken Voigt
Chapter Webmaster:

Ken is responsible for Administrative and Technical Management of the web site and SV-ISSA email system for the board. Ken has been an ISSA member since 2003, and served as chapter president for the San Francisco chapter in 2005-2007. In 2008 Ken became a member of the Silicon Valley chapter. Ken served as Education director for the Silicon Valley chapter from 2010-2016.In the role as education director, his primary function was to plan and produce the annual chapter sponsored CISSP review course. Ken is gainfully employed as a Network Engineer Consultant, responsible for installation and operation of Firewalls, Load Balancers, and network access controls (ACLs) on data center network switches & routers.
