Senior Campus Information Security Architect - UCSB

Information security in a wide-open environment. That's the challenge at the University of California Santa Barbara. UCSB is seeking a skilled security practitioner to create, maintain, and elevate a set of controls and capabilities at a world renowned research institution located in one of the most geographically desirable places in the US.

Universities are special places where security needs must be balanced with the openness required for academic freedom. Sensitive and regulated data abound including FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, and intellectual property. Few other environments are more challenging, more exciting, and more rewarding.

The Senior Campus Information Security Architect must be more than a theoretical architect. The architect must also be a competent practitioner capable of providing hands-on assistance with everything from risk assessment to firewall configuration to code review. The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills to complement a full range of technical knowledge. Collaboration, collegiality, and consensus are hallmarks of higher education.

UCSB is home to 5 Nobel Laureates, more than 22,000 students from 71 countries, and a faculty and staff population totaling more than 6500. UCSB is also home to Seclab with 3 internationally known faculty doing cutting-edge security research.

Located on the central coast of California about 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles, the UCSB campus is nestled between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean where it enjoys a moderate climate year-round. The Santa Barbara area offers a rich set of cultural and recreational opportunities. Santa Barbara is a little over 2 hours from Los Angeles for an expanded range of options. The University of California offers competitive salaries to complement a strong benefits package. If you are looking for a new opportunity in a great place to live and you have the required skills, apply today.
